NEW PRESIDENT / CEO IN FINNLINES PLC

The Board of Directors of Finnlines Plc is pleased to announce that Mr. Uwe
Bakosch has been appointed as President / CEO of Finnlines Plc.

Mr. Bakosch is 50 years old and German citizen. He is at present the Managing
Director of ATG Autotransport Logistic GmbH (100 % Deutsche Bahn).
Among others he has experience from following positions:
V.A.G. Transport GmbH - Chartering Manager
United European Car Carriers A/S - Director / Marketing and Sales
Scandlines AG - Member of the Board of Scandlines AG, Managing Director of
Scandlines Deutschland GmbH, as well as Scandlines Danmark AS.

When looking for a new President for Finnlines the board has concentrated upon
finding a candidate with thorough and good understanding of the Short Sea
Industry.

The Board feels confident that Mr. Uwe Bakosch has the relevant experience and
knowledge and that he will be an asset to the management of Finnlines.
Mr. Uwe Bakosch will start end second quarter 2009.
