Small Fire Extinguished on MS Finnfellow
Helsinki, 29 August 2009 - A small fire started today on the shop storage area onboard the MS Finnfellow while the ship was on her way from Naantali (Finland) to Kapellskär (Sweden). The fire was quickly extinguished by the crew. Nobody was injured and none of the 30 crew and the 37 passengers onboard has been in any dangers.
The MS Finnfellow is continuing on her route to Kapellskär where she is expected to arrive at 16:30 hours Central European Time (CET)
The fire started at 14:45 hours CET for unknown reasons in a storage room linked to the onboard shop. It was extinguished at 15:21 hours CET.
As a precautionary measure the 37 Passengers onboard were invited to go on the external deck while the fire extinguishing operations were successfully carried out.
An internal investigation is already undergoing to determine the reasons for which the fire started.
The MS Finnfellow is operated by FinnLink, a subsidiary of Finnlines. The Ro/Pax ship was built in the year 2000, she is registered in Sweden and has Swedish crew.
