Self-service check-in for drivers launched

Finnlines has introduced a driver self-service check-in application for the route between mainland Finland, Åland, and Sweden, aiming to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

Flexible and Efficient Check-In

With this app, drivers can check in via their mobile phones five hours before departure, minimizing wait times and boosting efficiency. The app identifies trucks as they approach the port, eliminating manual checks and queues.

This saves time and fuel by avoiding extra stops. The gates identify the truck’s status, allowing smooth entry to the loading area.

Environmental Benefits

By reducing unnecessary stops and optimizing routes, the app helps lower fuel consumption and thus carbon emissions.

Customer-Centric Innovation

The app is available to drivers of registered customers with an Extranet agreement and requires joining the Driver’s Card program to receive a digital membership card.

  • Mobile check-in
  • Customizable booking preferences
  • Reduced carbon footprint through optimized planning
  • No onboard queues, giving drivers more time to rest and relax.

How to get access to the system

For a driver to benefit from the system, their employer / contractor must

  • be an EDI / Extranet user
  • approve the implementation of the application for their drivers / subcontractors
