Finnlines Star Club Terms and Conditions

I General

1. Area of application

These terms and conditions apply to Finnlines Star Club Loyalty Program as in force from time to time. Finnlines is entitled to cancel the program without prior notice to the members of the program. A Passenger accepts these terms and conditions by submitting an internet application form for the Finnlines Star Club Loyalty Program.

2. Definitions 

In these terms and conditions, the term

a.) Card or Finnlines Star Club Card, means a Program fidelity card issued to individual Passenger. The Card is not a credit or debit card and cannot be used for such purposes.

b.) Passenger, means an individual travelling person that is eligible for the Program.

c.) Finnlines, means Finnlines Plc and its subsidiaries.

d.) Program or Finnlines Star Club Loyalty Program, means Finnlines Star Club Loyalty Program as defined herein and in force from time to time.

II Membership and Application

4. Conditions of membership

A person in the age of 18 or can apply for the Finnlines Star Club Card.

Finnlines sends an email confirmation regarding the Star Club membership to all Passengers meeting the conditions of membership within two weeks after submitting the application. The Passenger shall always inform Finnlines immediately in case there are any changes to the information given in the application. Companies, associations or other organisations cannot apply for the Finnlines Star Club Card or be members of the Finnlines Star Club Loyalty Program.

5. Application

A Passenger can apply for the Finnlines Star Club Card by filling in and submitting an application form online via www.finnlines.com/starclub. Mandatory fields of the application form must be filled out. Finnlines Star Club Card will be sent to the Passenger within four weeks from the registration.

The registration fee for the Finnlines Star Club Loyalty Program is 25 EUR non-recurring. The payment has to be made in conjunction with the booking.

6. Membership and Card

The Finnlines Star Club Loyalty Program membership and Card are valid until further notice once the application has been approved and the Card has been issued by Finnlines and signed by the Passenger. Card is property of Finnlines and lost Card has to be reported to Finnlines immediately. The Finnlines Star Club Card is personal and can only be used by the Passenger named on the Card. Passenger is not entitled to apply for more than one Card. In case the Card is physically damaged or lost Finnlines may at its discretion issue a new Card to the Passenger after the lost Card or damage has been reported. Finnlines has right to charge 10 EUR for issuing a new Card. Finnlines does not assume any liability for any possible costs or damages due to the physical damage to or loss of the Card.

III Program

7. General

Finnlines is entitled at any time to change the terms and conditions of the Finnlines Star Club Loyalty Program, benefits and discounts of the Program or terminate or suspend the Program without any notice to Passengers with an immediate effect. Finnlines informs the Passenger of all changes or amendments to these terms and conditions on the website www.finnlines.com/starclub. The terms and conditions presented from time to time on the website www.finnlines.com/starclub are the then currently valid terms and conditions of the Program. The terms and conditions of the Program do not in any way substitute Finnlines Conditions of Carriage which are applied for the actual carriage of passengers, their luggage and accompanying vehicles. In case of discrepancies between the two document’s terms and conditions the terms and conditions of Conditions of Carriage shall prevail.

8. Usage of information

By submitting an application form online a Passenger accepts these terms and conditions and grants Finnlines the right to store, process and use information given by the Passenger for marketing purposes (including but not limited to news and offers sent via email, SMS and/or to postal addresses provided by the Passenger). By submitting the application the Passenger gives Finnlines the right to collect information on purchases and trips made by the Passenger. Finnlines uses such information for its own marketing purposes and for developing its onboard and land services. This information will not be handed out to third parties other than third party companies who provide marketing services for Finnlines. The Passenger is obliged to inform Finnlines of any change of name, address, email or phone number.

9. Discounts and offers

Discounts and offers provided to Passengers may vary depending on the line and/or vessel and/or country of residence of the Passenger. The postal address given on the application form is the determining factor of the Passenger’s residence.

a) Discounts on board
There is no general right of discount or standard offers on any of the vessels. Discounts and offers as in force from time to time are granted only for the Passenger’s own benefit when the Passenger shows the Finnlines Star Club Card at the time of purchase. Discounts or offers cannot be claimed retrospectively. Passenger is not entitled to assign or otherwise transfer any discounts, offers or rights relating to the Finnlines Star Club Loyalty Program. In order to benefit from a Program discount or offer the Passenger may be asked to show proof of identity to Finnlines or to the onboard contractor.

b) Travel offers 
At least one person in the booking has to be member of the Finnlines Star Club Loyalty Program in order to benefit from the program travel offers. Bookings with Star Club discount can be made for max. 1 vehicle, 2 cabins and 9 persons. Group bookings are not possible.

Travel offers as in force from time to time are granted only for the Passenger’s own benefit when the Passenger provides the card number at the time of booking by typing in the membership number while making an online booking or by naming the membership number while making a booking via phone or email. The Star Club member cannot make bookings for other persons if he/she isn’t travelling with the booked person(s).

Star Club travel offers cannot be combined with any other discount except the regular 20% return trip discount which you get on the return part of the trip when booking a return trip.

Star Club travel offers can be booked online or via email or phone. Star Club travel offers cannot be booked at the check-in. The Star Club membership has to be verified by presenting the membership card during check in.  

IV Termination of membership

10. Termination by the Passenger

The Passenger may terminate his/her membership of the Program at any time by a written notification and by sending the Card to Finnlines Plc, Star Club, P.O. Box, 00181 Helsinki, Finland.

11. Termination by Finnlines

Finnlines is entitled to deactivate the Card and terminate the membership without prior notice if

a.) the Passenger is in breach of these terms and conditions or;

b.) if the Passenger has not used the Card within the last 24 months or;

c.) the Passenger has caused disturbance on board or has not followed orders or safety instructions given by any member of the crew of a Finnlines vessel.

d.) if the information given in the application form is wrong or outdated.

In case Finnlines deactivates the Card or terminates the membership Finnlines will inform the Passenger by letter or email.

12. Liability

Finnlines is not responsible to the Passenger or any third party for any loss caused by changes or amendments to the Program or to these terms and conditions, deactivation of a Passenger’s Card (whether the deactivation was based on these terms and conditions or not), any breach of these terms and conditions or any other event relating to the Program. If the Passenger is in breach of these terms and conditions Finnlines is entitled to reclaim any discount or offer granted to the Passenger after the breach has occurred. Passenger is responsible for any and all loss caused to Finnlines by any breach of these terms and conditions.

13. Independence of these terms and conditions

These terms and conditions are independent of any other contracts signed by the Passenger or Finnlines.
