Renovation of Vuosaari road tunnel and how to get to Vuosaari Harbour

Preparatory work for the renovation of the Vuosaari road tunnel will begin outside the tunnel at the harbor end during week 34. The work will start on 18 August.

One lane of Vuosaari Harbour Road will be closed from the Seilorinkatu roundabout in the direction of the tunnel. Traffic coming from the harbor will be directed to a single lane. The Satamakaari ramp will be completely closed, and access through the tunnel to Ring Road III (Kehä III) from Vuosaari will be via Rahtarinkatu–Seilorinkatu–Vuosaari Harbour Road. From the harbour towards Vuosaari, the same route will be used in reverse (Vuosaari Harbour Road–Seilorinkatu–Rahtarinkatu–Satamakaari).

The traffic arrangements will remain in place until the start of the tunnel renovation. The works will not affect traffic from Ring Road III towards the harbor. The tunnel will also remain in normal use throughout the autumn.

Tunnel to be closed to traffic in January 2026

Renovation work in the Vuosaari tunnel will begin on 6 January 2026, when the tunnel will be closed to traffic. The estimated closure period is approximately one year. During this time, traffic will be diverted to a detour route from Ring Road III via Itäväylä’s Kallvikintie and Niinisaarentie to Vuosaari Harbour.

In front of the terminal building is a paid parking garage managed by EuroPark. Check the parking prices and payment methods on the EuroPark website.

The maximum parking time in the area without a parking contract is three weeks. Please note that the height limit of the parking garage is 2.3 metres.

By public transportation 5 May – 28 September 2025, the metro is not trafficking between Vuosaari and Puotila metro station. Check itinerary for metro replacement busses.
