Finnlines Strengthens Partnership with Keep the Archipelago Tidy Association

Keep the Archipelago Tidy Association‘s litter collection boat, Roska-Roope, traveled to Åland aboard a Finnlines ferry at the end of July. Roska-Roope collects surface litter from waterways and raises awareness of the problem of littering in the Baltic Sea.
Finnlines has been collaborating with Keep the Archipelago Tidy Association for years, but this year the partnership is deepening even further. The aim of the collaboration is to promote cleaner waterways and sustainable water transportation – goals that are shared by both organizations.
“It’s great that Finnlines shares our concern for the state of our waterways and wants to be involved in solving the problem. The main partnership enables us to plan for the long term and take even more effective action for the benefit of our unique archipelago,” says Anne Ala-Pöllänen, Fundraising Manager at Keep the Archipelago Tidy Association.
“Our partnership not only raises awareness of the state of our waterways and archipelago, but also provides an opportunity to promote the well-being of the archipelago together, as we did in July when we transported the litter collection boat from Naantali to Långnäs. It is important that responsibility is not just words, but is also reflected in our actions,” says Merja Kallio-Mannila, Commercial Director at Finnlines.
